Russia is combatting the deadly third wave of Covid -19. The number of deaths is shooting up due to the virus Delta variant.
The Delta variant may result in more intense disease and more infection than the last version of the virus.
The Covid-19 taskforce in Russia announced that on Thursday 808 people died.
The country has a total death toll of 168, 049 which makes her the sixth-highest in the world.
As of June, Russia's excess fatality toll since the beginning of the pandemic stood at about 531,000 according to the Moscow Times' Research.
Russia is the fourth-highest country with more than 6.5 million cases of confirmed Covid -19.
On Thursday, the Covid -19 taskforce reported 21,933 new Covid -19 cases.
The country has introduced obligatory Vaccination for public workers.
In a country of 144.4 million people, about 27% have received a dose, and 19% are fully vaccinated.
"The only way to prevent the further spread of the epidemic is through vaccination." Russian President Vladimir Putin said this earlier to encourage the vaccination of the people.
The People are given the Russian -made Sputnik V vaccine, which has been available since December 2020.
